Patrolling

Having ‘boots on the ground’ in the form of patrolling wildlife wardens in vulnerable forest areas often already reduces threats to wildlife by poaching. Like in the Philippine Cockatoo Conservation Program it will be attempted to convert former poachers to wardens. KFI employs a smartphone-based patrol and monitoring system that allows quick mapping of threats and wildlife observations in the field, and prepare reports and maps that make the rapid response for law-enforcement bodies possible. Since these systems are quite new (and KFI was one of the first organizations to use these in the field in Palawan), these are constantly improved.
